Holtzman Vogel Attorney, Jason Torchinsky, Representing Sandy Springs, GA In Voting Rights Act Bailout
The Atlanta Journal Constitution has this article ("Sandy Springs wants out of Voting Rights Act") on the city of Sandy Springs, Georgia, and its move to seek bailout from the Voting Rights Act preclearance requirements. According to the article, "Sandy Springs is considering using its history — or lack of it — to try to become the first Georgia city to bail out of the Voting Rights Act. No municipality in the nation has successfully sued the U.S. Justice Department for an exemption from the act’s Section 5 since the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in June that jurisdictions could seek to be relieved from federal oversight of elections." Holtzman Vogel's Jason Torchinsky is one of two attorneys representing the city.
